About Our Blog

Lori Lapides loves wine, and food and traveling, and enjoys writing and talking about them, especially when combined together. Larry Lapides falls into the same categories. Which might be one reason why they’ve been together for a long time.

We’ve been visiting wineries and tasting wine together ever since we were married, and living the first 2 years of our life together in the Finger Lakes region of upstate New York. Living in a wine region wasn’t by design, just a by-product of a couple of years of grad school at Cornell University for Larry.

From there we lived in the Santa Barbara area, another great wine region. Again, not by design, but that’s where the job was located. More exposure to wineries and wine tasting ensued. From there we spent time in the Boston area – the only things wrong with Boston were that family was on the other side of the country and there were no wineries nearby – then it was back to Santa Barbara for a short stint and finally up to the San Francisco Bay Area.

We’ve been in the Bay Area for 20+ years now, and taste regularly in the Livermore Valley, the Russian River/Dry Creek/Alexander Valleys, and the Santa Cruz Mountains. We also hit Napa and Sonoma Valleys, the Sierra Foothills and Paso Robles on a regular basis. And we’ve hit Santa Barbara County, Monterey/San Benito Counties, Anderson Valley and Temecula Valley less regularly.

Our goal for our writings is to help people have a great time when visiting various wine regions. We don’t know what you like or don’t like in wine, and Lori and Larry often disagree themselves about what they like. However, winery visits and the wine tasting experiences are pretty universal, so we write about that. Hopefully our discussions will help you to choose a great experience for your visit to the wine regions.
